Career Options

When the students of science pass out their 12th, they feel relieved as they have done hard work throughout the year. In fact, we can say that the science students work hard for their two years to gain excellent marks in their final board exams. Their marks decide their future career options, and so, they put their hardest efforts to go for their desired career.

Now, when they pass out their 12th board exams, they start thinking and planning for their career. The science students have the biggest benefit of choosing any career even from other streams like Commerce or Humanities, while the Commerce students cannot choose a career in the science stream. So, a science student has several alternatives for their career.

However, let us take a look at the bachelor degree courses of the science stream, which are available to the science students.

B.Tech/BE

It is also known engineering and is popularly chosen career option in India today. The advantage of choosing this career is that the students who have scored between 50% and 60% can also choose these courses. There are excellent job prospects for the BE or B.Tech degree students.

The basic requirement for pursuing these courses, is Physics, Chemistry and Maths at the HSC level, and even a student of biology having these subjects can opt them.

MBBS

The students who have excellent marks in their 10+2 level have the best option of pursuing MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). If the student is interested in becoming an allopathic doctor, then it is the basic degree course for them. MBBS has a huge scope in India as well as in abroad countries. After completing it, the student can go ahead for specialising in fields like neurosurgery, psychiatry and orthopaedics. Even they can work in big hospitals and have excellent job scopes or can also open a private clinic.

Biology or Life Sciences is one of the primary subjects for the students of 10+2 to opt this degree. However, significant entrance exams for MBBS across India are AIPMT, JIPMER and AIIMS.

BAMS

If you are interested in pursuing Ayurvedic medicine, then it is the best option for your career. BAAMS is not only one of the most sought out options but is also the oldest forms of medicine practised in India. It has started gaining popularity in India as well as other countries with the growing success of the Ayurvedic medicines.

The students with subjects Physics, Chemistry & Biology and 50% or more in aggregate, can go for this career option. This degree course also has entrance exams that are held in various universities.

B. Pharma

If you are interested in having a career in the pharmaceutical industry, then B. Pharma is the professional course that prepares you for the same. After you complete this course, you can have a job as a pharmacist, drug inspector, drug therapist, health inspector, or as a drug technician.

The 12th science student should have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology as core subjects for pursuing this course.

B.Sc Nursing

If you are passionate about nursing and serving people, then it is probably the best career option for you. In this degree course, you are trained in all the theoretical and practical aspects of nursing. On the completion of this course, you can have job options like joining health institutes, medical colleges or private nursing homes as trained & certified nurses.

The 12th science students are required to have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as their core subjects and may have to go through entrance exams also.

B.Sc Anthropology

If you are keen on learning the socio-cultural development of humans, then it is the best option for you to choose. With a science background, you can learn the biological and the socio-cultural evolution of humans right from their origin. After completing this course, you can take up a job of a curator, urban planner, tour guide, culture resource manager or work as a research scholar.

To pursue B.Sc Anthropology, you need to have biology as your core subject.
