Career Counselling for MBA
Choosing the Right MBA Specialization

Congratulations for your ability to think big! And for looking at the bigger picture of your career!

By the time you graduate, you have spent 16 years in pursuing your education. Some add 2-3 years of experience before applying for an admission to MBA. The very fact that after so much schooling, you are still aspiring to spend 2 more years in further education reflects that you are aiming for higher level of career success.

Two-year MBA is a rigorous grind involving attending 6-8 hours of classroom sessions from Monday to Saturday; in some cases even Sundays. Also coupled to these classes, are a host of other academic and non-academic activities like assignments, projects, electives, seminars, contests, conferences, corporate interactions and so on. Most important among them are internships and campus interviews for which you get selected after enormous efforts – from searching a company to getting it agreed to come to your campus, preparing for campus interviews to cracking the selection processes of visiting companies.

The matter doesn’t end with getting a job alone . . .then comes the ‘on-the-job performance’ in the company you finally joined with lots of aspirations. You need to have 100% of your mind focused on your tasks (8-12 hrs a day) such as back-to-back meetings, managing teams, managing projects (resources and timelines), your KRAs, any-time any-where presentations, innovative strategies to match the competition, solving critical problems/situations etc.

Imagine, you realizing after spending 2-years in an organization that you entered a wrong field! Wrong company, wrong industry, wrong role!

You now wish to undo 4000 hours of inputs you received during your MBA because you chose a wrong specialization for various reasons (viz. peer pressure, acquainted influence, self perception, higher salary, impressive company presentation (PPT) or placement records of the college. In many cases, students discover this after spending 3-4 years in a particular role, in which case the damage done is tremendous and irreversible.

The criteria we take into account while choosing the specialization in MBA are as follows?
● Personality and Competency profiling.
● Specialization interest inventory
● Identification of the Job Profiles with respect to: Roles, Competencies,Career Path

Never leave such critical decisions to destiny because ‘Destiny is a matter of Choice and not Chance!’
